Mercantile Library unveils Robert Off's latest room box.

Mercantile Library one of America’s oldest private libraries unveiled Robert Off’s latest work during an evening of miniatures, art, history and books. The event featured a lecture on Sir Francis Beaufort by Scott Huler, the author of the acclaimed book “Defining the Wind”, and remarks by Robert Off about the history of miniatures as an art form. The inspiration for roombox, was Sir Francis Beaufort (1774 - 1857) an English naval hero, the hydrographer who charted the world for the British Empire and developed the “Beaufort Scale”, a written description of the various wind and sea conditions which is still in use by mariners today. The evening event was held on March 23, 2016 in the reading room of the historic library and the lecture was attended by over one hundred people, a record attendance.
